inp.polri.go.id - Yogyakarta. The Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) of the Yogyakarta Sub-regional City Police Criminal Investigation Unit has named five additional suspects in the alleged child abuse case that occurred at the Little Aresha Daycare in Sorosutan, Umbulharjo.

"The five additional suspects are two kindergarten teachers, two caregivers, and one person in the household department," said First Inspector Apri Sawitri, Head of the Women and Children Protection Unit of the Yogyakarta Police Criminal Investigation Unit, when confirmed in Yogyakarta on Monday.

According to Sawitri, the five additional suspects were named after investigators conducted a case review, questioned several witnesses, and gathered evidence related to the child abuse case at the daycare.

However, Sawitri could not yet reveal the identities of the five additional suspects as they were still awaiting an official release from their superiors.

"The suspects were named yesterday, Friday (7/24/2026), following a case review on Thursday (7/23/2026). The suspects' summons is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday (7/28/2026)," he said.

According to him, based on further investigation, the two kindergarten teachers named as suspects had different roles: one is suspected of committing the violent act, and the other is suspected of allowing the incident to occur.

Meanwhile, two caregivers and one household member are suspected of participating in the violent act against the children cared for at the daycare.

Previously, on April 25, 2026, the Yogyakarta Sub-regional City Police had initially named 13 suspects in the case of violence and neglect of children at the daycare.

Investigators then continued to develop the case by questioning witnesses who were caregivers and daycare employees, and named 14 suspects.

With the addition of these five new suspects, the total number of suspects in the alleged child abuse case at Little Aresha Daycare now stands at 32.

Meanwhile, the number of children registered as victims of alleged violence at the daycare is 157.
