inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs, Djamari Chaniago, stated that the threat of terrorism in Indonesia is currently relatively under control, but all parties must remain vigilant.
"Terrorism in Indonesia today is relatively under control. This is reflected in Indonesia's success in maintaining a declining number of terrorist incidents in recent years," Djamari said in Jakarta on Monday (6/27/2026).
He noted that the 2026 Global Terrorism Index categorizes Indonesia as a country with a medium impact, while the 2026 Global Peace Index categorizes Indonesia as having a medium peace level.
According to Djamari, these achievements underscore the effectiveness of prevention and law enforcement efforts, which are the result of collaboration between various parties, including the government, law enforcement officials, the public, academics, and international partners.
These positive results are inseparable from the continuity of policies through the National Action Plan for the Prevention and Countermeasures of Violent Extremism Leading to Terrorism (RAN PE).
According to him, the RAN PE policy is part of the state's efforts to fulfill its constitutional mandate, namely to protect the entire nation and all of Indonesia's territory.
Therefore, Djamari welcomed the initiative of the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) to strengthen collaboration in implementing Presidential Regulation Number 8 of 2026 concerning the RAN PE for 2026–2029.
Furthermore, Djamari emphasized Indonesia's continued commitment to being an active and constructive partner in responding to the threat of transnational violent extremism.
He expressed his hope that Indonesia's good practices in preventing and countering terrorism could contribute positively to global prevention efforts and international peace and security.
Despite these positive achievements, Djamari reminded all parties not to become complacent and urged relevant ministries and institutions to continue striving to maintain and preserve the achievements achieved and to remain vigilant.
"Vigilance must remain a key focus for us," he emphasized.
