Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.   Five people died in a house fire early Friday morning (25/7/2025) on Jalan Pesanggrahan Raya, East Semarang, Central Java. The blaze affected two adjacent homes shortly after 2.20 am local time.

“Among the victims was a pregnant woman. We received reports from residents who saw thick smoke and flames before contacting emergency services,” said East Semarang Office Police Chief First Inspector Andy Susanto, as quoted by antaranews.com.

Eight fire trucks were dispatched, and the flames were brought under control by 3.15 .am. Authorities are investigating the exact locations of the victims when they were trapped.

Initial findings suggest an electrical short circuit involving an optic cable touching a power line caused the fire.

Inafis forensics officers from Semarang Sub-regional Police (Inafis) conducted a crime scene investigation. The deceased have been identified as A (65), S (55), A (33, pregnant), MA (14), and KAR (4). Their bodies were evacuated to Dr. Kariadi Hospital for postmortem examination.
