inp.polri.go.id - The Head of the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB)Regional Police, Inspector General Djoko Poerwanto chaired a press conference on the disclosure of 8 cases of narcotics crime in NTB Regional Police for the last 3 weeks.
Other than the NTB Police Chief, the press conference which was held at the NTB Police Command Center, was attended by the NTB Police Head of Public Relations, Commissioner Artanto, Director of Narcotics and Drugs Investigation of the NTB Police, Commissioner Dedi Supriyadi, and the arrested suspects, Friday (19/08/2022).
On that occasion, the Two-Star General explained that the entire disclosure of this case was the fruit of hard work and cooperation between all parties in eradicating drug trafficking in the West Nusa Tenggara Province.
He said that most of the disclosures of cases during the last 3 weeks leading up to the 77th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia were successfully carried out thanks to the information provided by the public.
"Before making the arrest, the team has conducted an investigation on the information obtained, then after being secured an investigation process is carried out to determine the status of the suspect," continued the Regional Police Chief.
The former Director of Corruption Crimes of the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit explained that in the past 3 weeks his party has succeeded in uncovering 8 cases that occurred on Lombok Island and Sumbawa Island with 13 suspects consisting of 11 men and 2 women.
The NTB Police Chief said that of the 8 cases, officers had confiscated a number of evidences including 127.13 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 718.32 grams of marijuana, 92 million rupiah in cash, and communication tools.
He continued, from the results of the investigation of some of these cases, often times the evidence from the perpetrators was known coming from Sumatra. Regarding the origin of the evidence, Djoko admitted that his party is still carrying out further investigations.
“We have also informed the entire Resort Polices about this development, in this case I instruct the Drugs Directorate to continue communicating with all resort polices in West Nusa Tenggara," continued the NTB Police Chief.
The perpetrators will be charged with Article 111 paragraph (2), Article 112 paragraph (1) (2), Article 114 paragraph (1), Article 131 and Article 132 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with sentences varying from 7 years in prison to life imprisonment.
