inp.polri.go.id - The East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police together with the Polices in the ranks, for three days had managed to uncover five gambling cases that occurred in the region. "The five cases were revealed from August 18th to 20th thanks to the cooperation of the NTT Regional Police and the police ranks," explained the Head of Public Relations of the NTT Police, Commissioner Ariasandy in Kupang, Saturday (20/8/22).
Commissioner Ariasandy detailed that the five gambling cases were respectively revealed by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the NTT Police, the Sikka Police, the Alor Police, the West Manggarai Police, and the Ende Police.
The five gambling cases revealed consisted of lottery gambling, dominoes, rolling balls, and cockfighting. From the disclosure, the police arrested six perpetrators, consisting of three domino gamblers and three lottery gamblers. "Furthermore, the gambling case is currently undergoing further legal proceedings," explained Commissioner Ariasandy.
The perpetrators are suspected of violating Article 303 of the Criminal Code with a maximum imprisonment of ten years or a maximum fine of IDR 25 million.
Commissioner Ariasandy also added that the NTT Police Chief, Inspector General of Police Setyo Budiyanto, had made it clear to eradicate various modes of gambling in NTT.
Ariasandy also requested for community participation in eradicating this gambling practice, especially in the East Nusa Tenggara Province. "If there is information related to gambling, please immediately inform us so that we can follow it up," he explained.
