Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Foreign Ministry continuously tries to evacuate an Indonesian family from Gaza. “There is one more Indonesian Family that we tried to evacuate. The family consists of three Indonesian, which are the husband and his two children, and his wife who is a Palestinian,” says Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi in a press conference on Friday (11/3/2023). On Thursday, the family of Muhammad Hussein has arrived at Rafah border gate, however due to administrational issue, they are still not allowed to cross to Egypt. Regarding the case, Retno explains that the evacuation process of foreigners from Gaza is different from other evacuations. “The administration to leave Gaza is very strict and involves many key figures in Gaza. So those who wants to be evacuated has to be approved from many parties in Gaza, and this kind of process is not found in any countries. I reiterated, that every evacuation has its own policy,” explains Retno. Retno then states that Indonesia have tried to utilize many contacts and networks to help the evacuation process. Communication with Muhammad Hussein family who live in southern Gaza, is also continuously maintained. “We pray that on Firday, which is a day-off for Middle East countries, the Rafah gate is still open. Our hope and request have been conveyed to Egypt Foreign Minister last night. I have talked with Egypt Foreign Minister for Rafah Gate to be opened even on Friday,” says Retno. (ad/ndt/pr/nm)
