Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  Indonesia experienced a significant rise in foreign tourist arrivals, reaching 7.75 million visitors from January to July 2024, the highest number since 2020, representing a 20.75% increase compared to the same period last year.

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that in July 2024 alone, there were 1.31 million foreign tourist visits, marking a 9.42% increase from June and a 16.91% rise from July 2023.

“The surge in tourist arrivals reflects the growing international confidence in Indonesia’s tourism sector and its continued appeal as a premier destination,” said Pudji Ismartini, the BPS Deputy of Distribution of Services Statistics, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The majority of visitors came from Malaysia (177,710), Australia (166,920), China (126,110), and Singapore (102,320). Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali and Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Banten were the main entry points, handling 90.21% of arrivals, or 897,250 visitors.

Tourists stayed an average of 8.10 nights, with Southeast Asian visitors having the shortest stay at 3.67 nights, while African tourists stayed the longest at 15.74 nights. Yemeni visitors had the longest average stay at 35.75 nights.
