Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Attorney General's Office (AGO) has detained Prasetyo Buditjahjono, the former Director General of Railways at the Ministry of Transportation, as a suspect in a corruption case linked to the Besitang-Langsa railway project from 2017 to 2023.
“Prasetyo will be held for 20 days at the Salemba Branch Detention Center,” Abdul Qohar, the AGO’s Director of Special Crimes, announced on Sunday (11/3/2024).
The detention follows an order numbered Print-52/F.2/Fd.2/11/2024, issued on Sunday, according to antaranews.com.
The investigation has been ongoing for a year.
Prasetyo allegedly manipulated the construction process, which had a budget of IDR 1.3 trillion from state sharia bonds (SBSN). He is accused of instructing Nur Setiawan Sidik, the Budget User Authority (KPA), to divide the project into 11 packages, favoring eight companies in the tender.
Missing technical documents led to construction issues, including land subsidence, rendering the railway unusable and resulting in state losses estimated at Rp 1.1 trillion.
Prasetyo faces charges under the Anti-Corruption Law.
