Bodies of Four Air Force Officers Recovered in Super Tucano Plane Crash

The Air Force has recovered the bodies of its four officers who died  in a devastating crash of two Indonesian Air Force EMB-314 Super Tucano fighter planes crashed during a routine training exercise in Pasuruan, East Java on Thursday (16/11/2023), marking a sombre day for the air force. Air Commodore R. Agung Sasongkojati,the Chief of the Indonesian Air Force Information Service, confirmed the successful recovery efforts of the bodies of Lieutenant Colonel Sandhra "Chevron" Gunawan, the Commander of Air Squadron 21, Colonel Subhan, Colonel Widiono Hadiwijaya and Major Yuda A. Seta. Their bodies were scheduled to be examined by the Indonesian National Police (INP)'s Disaster Victim Identification  team, after which they will be taken to the squadron's hangar for burial at locations chosen by their respective families. The tragic crashes involved two separate aircraft, tail numbers TT-3111 and TT-3103, during a routine training session at around 12 pm. Both aircraft crashed at different locations in the mountainous area, one to the north and the other slightly to the south, underlining the severity of the incident. The fallen officers were all experienced mid-ranking air force professionals. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
