Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  In recognition of her outstanding contribution to global peacekeeping, Police First Brigadier Renita Rismayanti was honoured by the United Nations (UN) at the annual UN Police Week held at UN Headquarters. The event, held from 13 to 17 November, celebrated the exemplary service of peacekeepers worldwide. Brigadier Renita served as the Crime Database Officer in the Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), where she was instrumental in designing and developing a crime database. This innovative approach enables UN police to map and analyse crime hotspots, helping national security forces to plan and conduct operations in support of the local population more effectively. Upon receiving the UN Best Police Officer 2023 award, she said, "I feel fortunate to be able to use my technological skills to improve security for the people of the Central African Republic. I hope that the visibility of winning this award will reinforce the belief that all fields of policing are open to women and girls". Looking ahead, Brigadier Renita wanted this recognition to motivate her to continue to improve herself for the betterment of the Indonesian National Police (INP). She also hoped it will serve as an inspiration to her fellow officers. "I would like to thank the INP Chief  his support in this UN mission. I also thank the INP Head of the International Relations Division  for all his support and guidance," she said. The award, established in 2011, recognizes the exceptional contribution of female police officers in peacekeeping missions. INP Head of Public Relations Division Inspector General Sandi Nugroho highlighted that Renita, who was born in Magelang, has dedicated herself to global peace through her role as a Crime Database Officer. It's noteworthy that the Garuda Bhayangkara (Garbha) Contingent of UN Police Force Unit 5 deployed to Bangui, Central Africa, was dispatched by INP Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo on 19 September 2023. The contingent consists of 140 personnel, including 116 male and 24 female officers, as part of the 3184 INP personnel deployed to UN peacekeeping missions. The police contingent underwent seven months of pre-deployment training at the International Mission Centre of the INP in Serpong. Equipped with standard UN skills, the contingent will be trained in riot control, search and rescue, investigation, intelligence, negotiation, counter-terrorism, VIP protection, marksmanship, electronic communications, mechanics and medical combat.
