The robbery occurred under the Jembatan Merah pedestrian bridge bus stop on Jalan Gunung Sahari, Sawah Besar, on Thursday (4/9/2026) at around 3:40 a.m. The victim, Gilang Hisbullah (23), was passing by with a friend when they were confronted by four perpetrators on two motorcycles.

Central Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police Chief, Senior Superintendent Reynold E. P. Hutagalung, stated that the perpetrators acted in a divided manner, with two men threatening the victim with a sickle.

"The perpetrators stopped the victim on the road, then threatened him with a sharp weapon and robbed him of his motorcycle and cellphone. This is a serious crime that we will take firm action against," said Reynold on Friday (4/24/2026).

After receiving the report, said the Police Chief, the Sawah Besar Police Criminal Investigation Unit, led by First Inspector Muhammad Asaugi, immediately conducted an investigation by processing the crime scene and reviewing CCTV footage. The perpetrators were then identified and arrested at several different locations.

Sawah Besar Police Chief, Commissioner Rahmat Himawan, explained that the four perpetrators, identified as HQQ, JM, FP, and YIP, were apprehended in the Tangerang area, West Jakarta, and at an apartment in Jakarta. Police confiscated a machete, two motorcycles, and other items used in the crime.

"Our team acted quickly after identifying the perpetrators. All perpetrators were apprehended along with evidence in the form of sharp weapons, the vehicles they used, and the clothing they wore during the crime," he explained.
