inp.polri.go.id - East Java. The East Java Regional Police Water and Air Unit Directorate foiled an attempt to smuggle subsidized diesel fuel at Tanjung Perak Port, Surabaya.

"Officers found hundreds of liters of diesel fuel being transported without official documents and suspected of being destined for another island," said the East Java Regional Police  Water and Air Unit Director.

This case began with a public report regarding a diesel fuel shipment from Blora, Central Java, to Pangkalan Bun, Central Kalimantan. As reported by Antara Jatim, Friday (4/24/2026).

Following up on this information, the Water and Air Unit team conducted a search and inspection of the Tanjung Perak Port area.

While inspecting a truck attempting to cross the border, officers discovered 31 jerry cans of subsidized diesel fuel hidden in the side of the vehicle's bed. The total amount of evidence seized was approximately 930 liters of diesel fuel.

"The investigation revealed that the perpetrators allegedly purchased subsidized diesel fuel at several gas stations using vehicle barcodes. The fuel was then transferred into jerry cans using a pump and hose before being shipped outside the region for business operations," he said.

This practice constitutes a form of misuse of subsidized fuel distribution, harming the state through the method of staged purchases at public gas stations (SPBU).
