Inp.polri.go.id - Sragen. A French exchange student was found dead in the bathroom of a boarding house in Kauman Village, Gemolong District, Sragen, early Thursday morning (23/1/2025).
Sragen Sub-regional Police Chief Superintendent Petrus Parningotan Silalahi said that the victim, identified as Clara Danielle Jeanne Carmagnolle (24), who was residing in Semarang as part of a student exchange program, showed no signs of physical violence according to an initial examination by Gemolong Health Center.
Her body has been sent to RSUD Dr. Moewardi regional hospital in Surakarta for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
“She had a history of anemia, which was confirmed during a recent medical check-up,” said Chief Petrus, as reported by antaranews.com.
Earlier in the week, the victim sought medical care at RSI Islam Yakssi hospital in Gemolong after experiencing dizziness. Doctors confirmed her condition through lab tests, prescribed medication, and allowed her to return home.
On Thursday, her roommate discovered her unresponsive in the locked bathroom. After failed attempts to revive her, police were notified.
Authorities have coordinated with immigration officials to inform the French Embassy and her family.
