Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto announced on Tuesday (5/5/2026) that the government is preparing flexible scenarios to maintain energy sector stability as global oil prices remain volatile.

Currently, world oil prices are fluctuating between $90 and $120 per barrel, driven largely by ongoing geopolitical tensions.

"For fuel, we are still monitoring the situation because global oil prices are moving dynamically. It is essential that our scenarios remain adaptable to respond to these changes quickly," Minister Airlangga said during a press conference as reported by antaranews.com.

He noted that the government’s approach involves using average purchase prices to help keep the energy subsidy burden manageable despite market spikes.

To strengthen fiscal resilience and reduce reliance on energy imports, the government is accelerating domestic energy programs. A key initiative includes the implementation of the B50 biodiesel program starting 1 July 2026, which is projected to save approximately Rp48 trillion in diesel imports. Furthermore, to ensure the availability of household energy, the government plans to slash import duties on Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) from 5% to 0%.
