Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo announced plans to launch a localized version of the Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) specifically for Jakarta residents starting in 2027.
Speaking during a gathering at the Jakarta Education Office on Thursday (27/2/2026), the Governor confirmed that technical discussions are underway with national LPDP leadership to finalize the framework for this municipal scholarship initiative.
"One thing I truly want to establish is a Jakarta LPDP; I am confident we can achieve this," Governor Pramono said, emphasizing his commitment to higher education access.
Despite a previous Rp 15 trillion cut in revenue-sharing funds that delayed the rollout, the Jakarta administration has secured a budget solution to move forward. The program aims to send at least 100 awardees abroad or to top domestic universities in its first year. Targeting educators and underprivileged students alike, the initiative will fund master’s and doctoral degrees to transform the city's future workforce.
