inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Cimahi Sub-regional Police Narcotics Investigation Unit, uncovered a meth trafficking operation in Wangunsari Village, Lembang District, West Bandung Regency.
Cimahi Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Niko Nurallah Adi Putra, stated that the perpetrator hid the meth in the snail shells to avoid detection.
"We have arrested a young man from Lembang who was distributing methamphetamine, disguised as snail food," he said.
Police seized 2.08 grams of methamphetamine from the suspect along with several emptied snail shells.
The methamphetamine, packaged in small plastic bags, was placed inside the shells and then rewrapped as ready-to-distribute packages.
According to Niko, the suspect first looked for snails in the rice fields near his house, then removed the contents from the snails before placing the methamphetamine packages inside.
"The method was to stick or throw them in certain spots, so people would think they were just trash," he said.
The distribution took place in the Greater Bandung area, including Cimahi City, West Bandung Regency, Bandung Regency, and Bandung City. The perpetrator had been operating for approximately three months, making a profit of approximately IDR 6 million per transaction.
Meanwhile, the police are also hunting for the methamphetamine supplier, identified as Mengko, who is currently on the wanted list.
The suspect has been charged under Article 114 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics, which carries a minimum sentence of five years and a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine of at least IDR 1 billion.
