inp.polri.go.id - Tangerang. Indonesian Minister of Environment (LH) Hanif Faisol Nurofiq sealed three companies suspected of being sources of environmental pollution in Tangerang Regency, Banten, Friday (5/23/2025).

The sealing of the companies was carried out by Hanif  in a series of surprise inspections of PT Biporin Agung Cikupa (a textile company), PT Power Steel Mandiri (PSM), PT Power Steel Indonesia (PSI) which is an iron smelting company and an illegal aluminum waste management warehouse.

Based on the results of the inspections at three different company locations, Minister Hanif said that his party had found indications of environmental pollution violations by dumping industrial waste into the downstream of the Cirarab-Cilongok River.

"In general, we already know where the source of the pollution is as they dump their waste through the gutters that lead to the downstream of the Cirarab River," said Hanif.

With indications of environmental pollution violations, especially in air and water quality, his party took firm action by stopping all production activities from each of these companies.

"The impact from these actions are huge and is directly felt by the community which then also worsens the quality of the environment," he explained.

On that occasion, the Minister of Environment also said that his party wants to take the case to the legal realm as a criminal act of environmental violation with a penalty of three to five years in prison or a fine.

Furthermore, Minister Hanif said that the Ministry of Environment has currently found 23 sources of environmental pollution in the Cirarab River, Tangerang Regency.
