inp.polri.go.id - Manokwari. The Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) Team of the West Papua Regional Police Health Unit has identified eight of the 14 bodies of victims of flash floods and landslides in Catubouw District, Pegunungan Arfak Regency.

Head of the West Papua Regional Police Health Unit, Senior Superintendent Iskandar said that the victims identified on May 19 were five bodies, namely Yoseph Ermilianus Efrem, Porman Takaliumang, Okden Wote, Joni Rahawari, and Oce Takaliumang.

The five bodies were received by the police from the joint SAR Team on May 19, 2025, after being successfully identified. They were immediately handed over to each victim's family.

"We have handed over the five bodies to the victim's family," said Iskandar in Manokwari, Friday (5/23/2025).

On May 20, he said, the DVI Team received three bodies for identification, namely Laurensius Denilson Armanto and George Takaliumang who had been handed over to the family, while Harispen Tampil's body had not been taken by the family.

There were six other bodies that had been identified but were still waiting for the reconciliation meeting to match secondary antemortem data and primary post mortem data, before being informed to the family.

"We cannot inform the other six victims because we have to hold a reconciliation meeting first," he said.

He admitted that there were a number of obstacles faced by the DVI Team when conducting the visual identification process and primary data identification, because the condition of the victims' bodies had rotted and were filled with landslide material.

Some bodies are easy to identify but others are very difficult so it takes time to continue the identification process according to the stages in accordance with DVI provisions.

"The most crucial thing is because the condition of the bodies is not new. In total, we have received 14 bodies," he said.
