inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) Rini Widyantini emphasized that the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in the government sector cannot be separated from strengthening data governance.
Rini said that this step is important so that digital transformation in the bureaucratic space runs effectively, responsibly, and has a positive impact on society.
"Strengthening data governance is carried out not only to enable effective digital government transformation, but also to ensure a strong and responsible foundation for the implementation of AI. This effort reflects Indonesia's commitment to fostering a coherent governance ecosystem with data and technology that optimally serves its citizens," said Rini while giving a speech at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Innovative, Digital and Open Government (INDIGO) Network, Jakarta, Thursday (5/23/2025).
Along with efforts to advance the use of AI in government with a foundation of digital government and data governance, Indonesia welcomes collaboration, knowledge exchange, and strategic partnerships with international stakeholders to strengthen institutional capacity and ensure responsible and impactful implementation of AI.
On the same occasion, Director of the Digital Government Co-operation Division of Korean Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS) Park Byung Joon said that there is no choice for the government other than to carry out digital transformation to improve the quality of life of the community, one of which is by using AI.
"AI is the core of digital transformation so that public policies are efficient and personalized to the needs of the community. AI also encourages a transparent and inclusive government," he explained.
In accordance with the theme carried, namely 'Governing with AI: Advancing good governance through AI implementation in the public sector' Joon then hopes that this forum can be a place to share good practices in implementing AI in government between countries in Southeast Asia.
