Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Task Force for Cesium-137 (Cs-137) cleanup has begun sealing five contaminated sites outside the Modern Industrial Area in Cikande, Serang Regency, Banten, as part of ongoing decontamination efforts.
“Seven of 12 contaminated points outside the industrial zone are under treatment, and five will be cemented since residual materials remain, although radiation levels are below 2.5 microsieverts,” said Minister of Environment Hanif Faisol Nurofiq on Sunday (2/11/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
He added that around 10,000 cubic meters of affected material have been secured with zinc fencing to control public access. The minister urged residents to stay calm and coordinate with on-site officers during the relocation process.
The Serang District Government has temporarily relocated 27 families from the radiation zone to Sukatani Village. The Cs-137 task force, led by the Ministry of Environment, expects full recovery within two to three weeks.
