inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The government is targeting the completion of 5,000 bridges across Indonesia by the end of 2026 to strengthen community connectivity, even in remote areas.

"Building bridges, connecting hopes," noted Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Thursday (6/25/2026).

Teddy stated that the government is targeting the completion of 2,500 bridges by August 2026. Construction will then be accelerated to reach the target of 5,000 by the end of 2026.

He stated that the construction of bridges is being carried out through collaboration between the government, the Indonesian Army, and local communities.

According to Teddy, the new bridges are being built to connect areas that have been separated for years by rivers and difficult terrain. 

Through the bridge construction program, President Prabowo is pushing for faster, safer, and more equitable connectivity, even to remote areas of Indonesia.

"In many areas that have been separated by rivers for decades, the presence of a bridge can transform people's lives," he said.

Teddy stated that the construction of the suspension bridge is expected to facilitate public mobility and improve access to education, healthcare, and other public facilities.

He added that this infrastructure will also support children in remote areas in reaching schools.

"For children who have to go to school every day, a bridge is not just a connection between two riverbanks. It is a link to the future," said Teddy.
