Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. THe presidential regulation draft on artificial intelligence (AI) is expected to enter the legal harmonization stage by the end of September 2025, according to Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria. 

The process aims to ensure the regulation aligns with existing laws and avoids overlaps.

“Our target is that by the end of this month the draft can move forward to the next stage, focusing on the legal principles,” Deputy Minister Nezar said in Jakarta on Thursday (25/9/2025), as reported by antaranews.com. 

He added that harmonization would include regulatory testing to prevent contradictions with other rules.

The government is preparing two accompanying legal instruments under the same decree: the White Paper on the National AI Roadmap and guidelines on AI safety and security. Both documents are being developed with input from 443 stakeholders, including government, academia, industry, civil society, and media. 

Officials say the initiative seeks to ensure inclusive, sustainable, and responsible AI governance in Indonesia.
