Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Environment) has intensified security at the interim storage facility of PT Peter Metal Technology in Serang, Banten, after four internal workers were arrested for stealing cesium-137–contaminated scrap metal.

“Security is now fully taken over by Banten Police because the internal guards were involved in the theft,” said the Ministry’s Law Enforcement Deputy, Inspector General Rizal Irawan, on Thursday (11/12/2025), as cited by antaranews.com.

Police arrested three security guards and a forklift operator on Tuesday after the Ministry coordinated with Serang Sub-regional Police. Authorities have since deployed personnel from Banten Police, supported by the Mobile Brigade (Brimob), to secure the area based on radiation-safety calculations.

The Ministry has introduced new SOPs restricting access exclusively to authorized members of the Cesium-137 Task Force. Police lines have been installed, and all movement of people and goods must be logged in a daily register. The ministry and police are also finalizing comprehensive security measures, including access control, documentation, and coordination for permanent storage.
