A gunfight occurred between the joint security force of Indonesia and the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Intan Jaya Regency, Central Papua Province on Friday (3/1/2024).   Papua Regional Police Public Relations Chief, Senior Superintendent Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo confirms the incident. He states that the gunfight occurred on Friday, March 1st, 2024 at 12.20 pm in Mamba Village, Sugapa District, Intan Jaya Regency.   “The gunfight occurred just 130 meters from Intan Jaya Regent Office in Mamba Village,” said Benny.   Furthermore, Benny revealed that the incident began with two loud sounds of gunshots at 10.00 am from the front of the Intan Jaya Regency Regent's Office.   “Hearing the gunshots, the joint force of Intan Jaya Sub-regional Police and Damai Cartenz Task Force immediately went to the location,” told Benny.   Then, at around 12.20 pm the two opposing groups met and began shooting at each other.   “From the gunfights, two individuals were shot. First is the military personnel of Raider 330, Second Private David who was shot in his side abdomen and the other victim is a civilian named Nelon Sani (16) who suffered gun wounds in his left hand and abdomen,” reveal Benny.   According to Intan Jaya Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Afrizal Asri, the two victims were evacuated to Timika Regency by military helicopter at 14.32 pm to receive medical treatment.   “Now, our joint forces of Indonesian Military Force (TNI) and Indonesian National Police are intensively patrolling the area to anticipate further terror from KKB,” conclude the police chief.   (ad/ri/pr/nm)
