The Industrial Ministry records the use of battery-based electric motorcycle vehicles (KBLBB) is growing significantly in 2023, with the growth up to 262%.   The Director of Maritime Industry of Transportation Equipment and Defense Equipment, Hendro Martono, says that the number of two-wheeled electric vehicles is increasing from 17,000 in 2022 to 62,000 in 2023.   “The increase is thanks to the success of the government program in subsidizing the KBLBB,” said Hendro on Friday (3/1/2024).   The subsidized program enabled the public to buy the KBLBB much cheaper with the government covering the price for up to IDR 7,000,000.   Meanwhile, the increase in four-wheeled electric vehicles is growing up to 43%. He states that there is an increase from 2022 to 2023 from 8,000 to 12,000.   Despite that, Hendro still considers that the increase is still not enough, which is why the government proposed a new incentive program. The new incentive program is for the import duties and sales tax on luxury goods (PPnBM) to be 0 percent.   “This incentive will be applied for imported completely built up and completely knocked down cars, with the local components value below 40%,” said Hendro.   Another new incentive is tax holiday or corporate income tax exemption for companies producing KBLBB of 100 percent.   Then there is also tax allowance or reduction in corporate income tax for companies investing in the KBLBB industry by 50%, and VAT borne by the government (DTP) by 10% for purchasing electric cars.   (ad/ndt/pr/nm)
