inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has dispatched five airplanes for weather modification operations in six provinces in handling land fires. The six prioritized provinces are Riau, Jambi, South Sumatra, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, and South Kalimantan.
“As of now, we are deploying five airplanes for Weather Modification Operation at six prioritized provinces. These five airplanes can be moved to prioritized areas whenever they are needed,” says BNPB Chief, Suharyanto as quoted by RRI on Tuesday (8/12/2025).
In his statement, he says that the weather modification operation will be applied in accordance to the situation at the field. When the clouds at the hotspot area are not available, BNPB will deploy the ground task force to handle the fire.
Other than the five airplanes, his party also dispatched 12 water bombing helicopters to anticipate fires at the unreachable area by the ground task force.
Coordination with the Ministry of Environment and Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG) also intensified to monitor the land fire areas in real time.
