Inp.polri.go.id - Batam. Hang Nadim International Airport in the Riau Islands has opened an international flight route to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Saturday (17/2/2024).
Pikri Ilham Kurniansyah, CEO of PT Batam International Airport, said that the Batam-Kuala Lumpur route is served by Batik Air, antaranews.com reported.
"This flight operates three times a week, both from Batam to Kuala Lumpur and vice versa. From Batam, flights are available every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. From Kuala Lumpur, flights are on Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday," he said.
Pikri said that for the inaugural flight, 114 passengers from Kuala Lumpur had arrived in Batam, while 162 passengers departed from Batam to Kuala Lumpur.
The Batam-Kuala Lumpur route is the second international flight opened in 2024, following the earlier Batam-Kunming, China route launched by Hang Nadim International Airport.
Meanwhile, Yusnita Yusof, the Deputy Director of Tourism Malaysia in Medan, referred to the opening of the Batam-Kuala Lumpur flight as a form of cooperation to increase the target number of foreign tourist visits in each country.
"We hope that with this opening, we can achieve that target. Malaysia targets 4 million Indonesian tourists to visit there," she said.
