Head of INP's Baharkam Visits Keerom's Corn Training Center

Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The Chief of Papua Regional Police Inspector General Mathius D. Fakhiri, along with the Vice Chief of Papua Regional Police Brigadier General Ramdani Hidayat, accompanied the Head of the INP's Security Maintenance Board (Baharkam) Commissioner General Mohammad Fadil Imran, on a working visit to Yanemyo Hamlet, Suskun Village, East Arso District, Keerom Regency on Saturday (14/10/23). The objective of this initiative was to establish direct dialogues with local government officials, community leaders, traditional figures, and corn farmers of Keerom Regency. Also in attendance were officials from INP's Baharkam, including Inspector General Hary Sudwijanto, Head of the Social Development Corps of Baharkam; Brigadier General Pol Agung Julianto, Head of the Planning and Administration Bureau of Baharkam. Additionally, representatives from the Papua Regional Police Headquarters; Police Superintendent Christian Aerthe, the Chief of Keerom Sub-Regional Police; Piter Gusbager, Regent of Keerom Regent; Major Infantry Suwito, Liaison Officer of Military District Command 1701/Jayapura; and members of the Keerom Regency Regional Government were also in attendance. The proceedings commenced with a traditional Papuan dance to extend a warm welcome to the entourage led by the Chief of Papua Regional Police and Head of INP's Baharkam, followed by a prayer led by the Chief of Keerom Regency Religious Harmony Forum (FKUB), KH Nursalim Arrozy. Keerom Regent conveyed gratitude to the INP Headquarters, INP's Baharkam, Head of the Social Development Corps of Baharkam, and the Papua Regional Police for their dedicated attention to the Keerom community. He emphasized the pivotal role of the Corn Cultivation Training Center in Keerom as a critical step towards alleviating extreme poverty and bolstering the regional economy. "The establishment of the corn farming training center in Papua marks a significant milestone. Through collaborative efforts with the community and farmers, coupled with essential infrastructure support, we anticipate a surge in agricultural technological advancement in Keerom Regency," the Regent stated. Furthermore, Commissioner General, Head of INP's Baharkam, underscored the critical importance of the Corn Training Center in Keerom as a pioneering hub for emerging regions, fostering economic self-sufficiency, and advancing agricultural technology. 'Keerom was chosen as the center for maize cultivation training due to its distinctive characteristics, and it is imperative that this center not be merely symbolic," he said . He also expressed gratitude for the regional government's plan to allocate 20 hectares of land, previously owned by indigenous communities, to the INP. "This step is a tangible demonstration of the regional government's support for the National Police's efforts in enhancing community well-being through the progression and application of agricultural technology," he affirmed. He further emphasized the pivotal role of these training centers in enhancing the proficiency of local communities in agricultural technology. He described it as an economic ecosystem that provides capital for agriculture, facilitates the supply of seeds and fertilizers, and ensures effective pest control. "From the soil of Keerom, we endeavor for the progress and prosperity of the Papuan populace. We are here to learn as well. I believe that if the local populace enjoys sufficient income, it will undoubtedly contribute to a more secure public environment," he added. The visit by the Head of INP's Baharkam also served as an occasion to present accolades to Bhabinkamtibmas who have rendered exemplary service in the region. "I hope this recognition will be a motivation for them to continue to improve their performance in their careers," he concluded. (ar/ta/hn/nm)
