Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin announced a significant decrease in the death toll among polling station organizer group (KPPS) members during this year's election, on Friday (16/2/2024).
"This year marks a significant decrease in deaths compared to previous elections, where the toll exceeded 100," he noted.
He attributed the decline to heightened health awareness among KPPS members, stressing that the understanding that work cannot be rushed has become ingrained in them during the 2024 elections.
In the future, he aims to eliminate KPPS members deaths during duty. One approach, he added, is to maintain health screening for prospective KPPS members before their appointment, a practice implemented in this election.
"Usually, they have conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes. Prior to joining the KPPS, we might conduct screenings for hypertension and diabetes, as they are major contributors to these health issues," he explained.
