Inp.polri.go.id - Mecca.  The Ministry of Health has called on Hajj pilgrims experiencing flu-like symptoms to continue adhering to health protocols upon returning from Saudi Arabia, in light of rising COVID-19 cases globally and domestically.

Head of the Hajj Health Section in Saudi Arabia, Mohammad Imran, advised  on Sunday (15/6/2025) the importance of mask-wearing, hand hygiene, and reporting travel history to health officers for proper diagnosis and treatment.

“To prevent the spread of COVID-19, pilgrims who have had coughs or colds since the Holy Land should wear masks, wash hands regularly, and report their travel history to healthcare workers,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com

Imran also warned of extreme temperatures in Saudi Arabia, reaching up to 47°C, which may worsen chronic conditions like hypertension and diabetes. Pilgrims are urged to rest, avoid strenuous worship, and seek medical help if symptoms emerge within 14 days of returning home.

The Ministry recorded 178 COVID-19 cases in Indonesia in the 23rd week of 2025.
