Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology reiterated its commitment to developing nuclear power plants as part of the nation’s Net Zero Emission 2060 roadmap through large-scale investment in human resource development.

“President Prabowo has emphasized that mastering alternative energy, including nuclear power, is essential to ensure national energy sovereignty and sustainability,” said Minister Brian Yuliarto during the 2025 Bapeten (the National Nuclear Research and Innovation Agency)Executive Meeting and Awards, Monday (27/10/2025).

The Ministry is mapping national human resources needs across eight strategic industries, including energy, and aligning LPDP scholarships to prioritize STEM, reactor technology, and nuclear safety management. The ministry is also partnering with Russia, France, Japan, and Australia for joint degree and research programs to accelerate knowledge transfer.

Bapeten Acting Head Sugeng Sumbarjo noted that human resource readiness is critical for nuclear oversight and safety, while Deputy Minister of Energy Yuliot Tanjung called the nuclear power plants development a “strategic step toward decarbonization and energy resilience.”
