Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar has warned Indonesians not to be lured by job offers in Cambodia, stressing that the country is not an official destination for Indonesian migrant workers .

“If there’s a job offer with placement in Cambodia, it is definitely illegal,” he said on Monday (27/10/2025), emphasizing that Cambodia remains unsafe for Indonesian migrant workers due to the absence of a bilateral labor agreement.

The minister reminded the public that the government, through the Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Agency (P2MI), has repeatedly issued warnings about the risks of working in Cambodia, including human trafficking and labor exploitation.

He added that for those already working there, the government continues to provide protection through coordination between P2MI, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh. The Minister also urged potential migrant workers to use only official and verified recruitment channels to ensure safety and legal protection abroad.

The government estimated over 100,000 Indonesians are currently working in Cambodia, both in formal and informal sectors.
