Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia has not yet purchased the BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles from India, Deputy Defense Minister Donny Ermawan Taufanto confirmed on Tuesday (28/10/2025) after a meeting with India’s Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan in Jakarta.
The discussion, he said, did include the missile system, but no contract has been signed.
“Oh, not yet,” Deputy Minister Donny told reporters at the Defense Ministry, emphasizing that while India has offered to modify Indonesia’s Sukhoi aircraft to carry BrahMos, the proposal remains under review.
“They have used BrahMos for various operations, ground-to-ground, ground-to-sea, and air-to-ground, but we still have no agreement with India,” he added, as quoted by antaranews.com
India previously explored potential cooperation on BrahMos technology during a visit by Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi to Jakarta in December 2024. Indonesian Navy Chief Admiral Muhammad Ali said at the time that any acquisition or partnership related to the BrahMos would be determined by the Defense Ministry.
