inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian stated that the work-from-home (WFH) initiative is nothing new and will conduct outreach to local governments regarding the readiness of essential services to continue operating.

He stated that the government has experience implementing the WFH scheme during the COVID-19 pandemic, and everything ran smoothly.

"No problem. We already have a lot of experience with this policy. However, perhaps because some region has a new regional head, I still have to provide an explanation to them later. Essential services such as transportation, emergency services, hospitals, and sanitation must continue operating," explained Tito on Wednesday (3/25/2026).

He stated that the WFH plan had previously been discussed with relevant ministries and agencies to provide input on the plan. However, the results of that meeting would be further communicated after being reported to President Prabowo Subianto.

He mentioned that one of the proposed schemes was one WFH day per week. "But the decision on which day will be chosen will be made later. We'll wait for the results of yesterday's meeting to be reported to the President," he said.

When asked further about the chosen day for WFH, the Minister of Home Affairs reiterated that a more detailed announcement regarding this would be made after the meeting results were reported to the President.

Previously, the government planned to implement the WFH policy after Eid al-Fitr as a measure to conserve energy amid rising global oil prices.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated that the policy applies to State Civil Apparatus (ASN) and is also recommended for the private sector.
