inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Home Ministry Affairs, Muhammad Tito Karnavian will push the acceleration of local game industry development. He affirms this initiative during the Regional Inflation Control Coordination Meeting in Jakarta. 

“As the Minister of Home Affairs, I fully support this activity, this national program, as I believe this is part of our wealth, our treasure,” says Minister Tito on Monday (10/7/2024).

In his statement, he says that the game industry has integrated into the daily lives of many, from children to adults, in Indonesia. Unfortunately, Indonesia is not yet able to optimize their potential in the industry although they are the fourth biggest population in the world.

“Through this creative economy, aside from getting additional income and more job opportunities, and others, I saw bigger potentials than those. From this, the people from regions also have a bigger opportunity in generating local revenue,” says Tito.

The next benefit in developing the industry is that the games can also be utilized to socialize government programs. In his remarks, Minister Tito gave his several game topic ideas such as covering about stunting, tourism, and environment conservation.

“On the other hand, I believe it is important for our nationalism as we all know during this era of globalization, domination between countries is still carried out for hegemony," he explained.

He adds that foreign culture infiltration to Indonesia can affect people’s nationalism through video games. This issue can be combated by presenting national heroes in the video game.

Meanwhile, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, said that this activity is a socialization to encourage local Indonesian games. For that, there needs to be a 2025 action plan by regional heads that is included in the Regional Government Work Plan (RKPD) 2026-2029.

He hopes that the game industry that will be projected can contribute billions of dollars in profits. In addition, it can create prosperity in realizing 2045 Golden Indonesia.
