inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian underscores that the current Indonesian economy remains in good condition.

He says that this can be seen from the inflation rate that has been maintained year on year for 1.84 percent in September. He affirms that in general, the people’s purchasing power is well maintained.

“A 1.84 percent inflation rate is a good rate, it is low. I also want to convey that people’s purchasing power is not decreasing, but instead it is increasing,” says Minister Tito on Wednesday (10/9/2024).

He explains that the people’s purchasing power can be seen from the core inflation such as the recreation, restaurant, service, education, and personal care sectors.

In September, personal care and personal services experienced an increase in inflation of 0.38 percent. This indicates that people's purchasing power is still high.

Meanwhile, the increase in inflation for the education sector reached 0.29 percent and restaurants 0.13 percent. "This could mean people are actively shopping for their children's education," said the Minister of Home Affairs.

On the other hand, food, beverages, and tobacco experienced deflation or a decrease in prices. This condition is a good signal because it reflects falling food prices, supply, and distribution of food ingredients running smoothly.

However, the Minister of Home Affairs emphasized that as the state who produces, Indonesia must be able to maintain price stability that is beneficial for producers and consumers.
