Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, has confirmed  on Tuesday (19/12/2023) that he has replaced several incumbent regional leaders due to their lack of neutrality in the run-up to the 2024 general election. He asserted that the replacements were made based on evaluations and in-depth information, revealing that some incumbent regional leaders had been proven to have violated the principle of neutrality, antaranews.com reported. "There were viral reports and videos about the lack of neutrality, so I made the replacements," Minister Tito said. He explained that evidence of non-neutrality among acting regional leaders had come from public reports, as well as complaints from political parties and election participants. Based on these reports and complaints, the Ministry of Home Affairs conducted evaluations and took decisive action by removing the acting regional leaders. Minister Karnavian named Muhammad Firdaus, the Acting Regent of Kampar, Riau Province, as one of the acting regional leaders who had been evaluated and subsequently replaced. A total of 59 incumbent regional leaders received a red flag for failing to maintain neutrality among public officials, based on an evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Home Affairs in Jakarta.
