Senior Superintendent Ade Safri Simanjuntak, the Director of the Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police's Special Criminal Investigation Directorate, welcomed the South Jakarta District Court's decision to reject the pre-trial motion filed by suspended Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chairman Firli Bahuri.
"We, the investigation team, fully respect and appreciate the South Jakarta District Court's verdict to dismiss the pre-trial motion submitted by suspended KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri and his legal counsel," he said on Tuesday (19/12/2023)
He emphasized that this verdict demonstrates the professionalism and responsibility with which the investigation was conducted in compliance with the law.
"We, the investigation team, are dedicated to upholding the law in a professional, transparent, accountable, and just manner," he added, ensuring that the investigators will carry out their duties without any interference, intimidation, or influence from external parties.
The sole judge of the South Jakarta District Court, Imelda Herawati, dismissed Firli's pre-trial motion concerning his status as a suspect in an extortion case by the Metro Jaya Police.
She said that Firli's designation as a suspect by the Metro Jaya Police adhered to proper procedures and was legally valid, affirming that his suspect status remains valid and cannot be revoked.
