Hostage Seeks Asthma Medication and Books: Papua Police Chief

Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The Papua Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Mathius D. Fakhiri acknowledged from circulating videos that the Susi Air New Zealand nationality pilot held hostage by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) requested asthma medication and books. In the circulating video, hostage Phillip Mark Mehrtens was seen requesting medications and books, antaranews.com reported "Feel free to send any aid to Phillip, who has been held captive since 7 February 2023," said Chief Fakhiri on Friday (9/2/2024) . He said that the police will facilitate access to any partiesĀ  willing to deliver the aid as the safety of the hostages is a top priority. If no one is willing to deliver the medication, the Indonesian military and police are ready to assist to ensure the hostage remain in good health, he said. Captain Mehrtens is currently reported to be in the vicinity of Nduga Regency, Papua Highlands under the escort of KKB led by Egianus Kogoya. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
