Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police confirmed that a boarding house guard checked the room of Arya Daru Pangayunan, a diplomat and staff member of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, three times prior to his body being discovered in Menteng, Central Jakarta.
Metro Jaya Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Ade Ary Syam Indradi said that the checks were conducted at the request of the victim’s wife, who became concerned after failing to reach her husband by phone.
“The victim’s wife asked the guard to check on him three times,” he said in an official statement on Sunday (13/7/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The checks occurred on 7 and 8 July 2025. The first attempt was made at 10.40 pm on 7 July 2025, but the guard’s old phone number was inactive. The wife later reached the guard on a new number and requested two more checks on 8 July 2025, at 12.48 am and again at 5.27 am.
The case gained public attention after police investigators discovered his body in his boarding room on 8 July 2025. Forensic teams from various units have since conducted detailed examinations at the scene.
The police have also reviewed CCTV footage and interviewed four witnesses. Authorities are now awaiting laboratory results from the autopsy and internal organ examination to determine the cause of death.
