Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief, Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo states human trafficking criminal actions (TPPO) across 2023 saw an uptrend of 837 cases or 557% from 2022. “The numbers of TPPO in 2023 are 982 cases or 837 higher than 2022 which only 145 cases,” says the Police General on Wednesday (12/27/2023). Moreover, the number of victims from this criminal action also higher than 2022, which rocketed to 3,208 than the previous year of only 668 victims. However, it is worth noting that INP formed the TPPO Task Force on 2023 May after 1,213 people from 11 foreign countries became the victim of this criminal action. From the thousands of victims, 242 of them are Indonesians. “Of that finding, government took the initiative to handle the human trafficking issues. INP was then appointed by the government to be the leading sector in eradicating the crime,” Sigit explains. Regarding the TPPO criminal actions, police have arrested 1,361 suspects in 2023, higher than those of 172 suspects in 2022. (ad/ndt/pr/nm)
