inp.polri.go.id - Banten. Police have uncovered illegal landfill mining activity in Cimentul Hamlet, Bakung Village, Kronjo District, Tangerang Regency, Banten. Two individuals identified as RD and DL were arrested and named suspects in the case.
This case was uncovered by Unit IV, Sub-Directorate IV of the Special Crimes Directorate of the Banten Regional Police, after receiving a report on July 31, 2026. Police then conducted an inspection and investigation into the alleged unauthorized mining activity at the location.
"This case stemmed from a police report dated July 31, 2026. Investigators from Unit IV, Sub-Directorate IV of the Special Crimes Directorate of the Banten Regional Police conducted an inspection of the landfill mining activity," said Banten Regional Police Public Relations Chief, Senior Superintendent Maruli Ahiles Hutapea, in a written statement to reporters on Saturday (9/26/2026).
The investigation revealed that the mining activity took place from July 27 to 31, 2026. The perpetrators used heavy equipment, an excavator, to carry out the operation.
Police then conducted an in-depth investigation and identified two individuals suspected of involvement in the activity. Their initials are RD and DL.
The investigation revealed that the mining activity was carried out for personal gain. The extracted fill soil was then sold to buyers.
"The mined fill soil was reportedly sold at retail for IDR 250,000 per trip using a Colt Diesel dump truck with a capacity of approximately five cubic meters," said Maruli.
For their actions, the two suspects were charged under Article 158 of Law Number 3 of 2020 concerning amendments to Law Number 4 of 2009 concerning Mineral and Coal Mining in conjunction with Law Number 1 of 2026 concerning Criminal Adjustments.
"Both face a maximum prison sentence of five years and a maximum fine of IDR 200 million in category IV," he explained.
The Banten Regional Police urge the public not to engage in mining activities without a permit. The public is also asked to immediately report any mining activities suspected of being unlicensed.
"People who discover mining activities suspected of being unlicensed can immediately report them by calling 110 or visiting the nearest police station," he concluded.
