A more important measure is how safely the public carries out their activities and how much trust they have in the police.

K. Yani Sudarto made this statement while delivering a public lecture at the Abdurrahman Sayoeti Hall, Batanghari University, Saturday (9/26/2026).

On that occasion, he emphasized the importance of a paradigm shift in police services. The National [olice are not only required to resolve cases, but must also be able to prevent crime and build public trust.

According to him, a decrease in crime rates in the community is an important indicator of police success. Furthermore, the public must also feel the presence of the police through a sense of security and good service.

"Police success is not only measured by the number of cases resolved. We must also see whether crime has decreased, whether the public feels safe, and whether the police are trusted by the people," said Yani Sudarto.

He also emphasized that ensuring security is not solely the responsibility of the police. Collaboration with various elements of society, including universities, is necessary to build a safe, orderly, and just environment.

"Security is born when the authority, knowledge, and experience of the community can be combined. Therefore, synergy between the police, universities, and the community is a crucial part of realizing a safe, orderly, and just Jambi," he said.

During the event, the Jambi Regional Police also welcomed various scientific ideas from academics at Batanghari University, which they believe can support the implementation of police duties within the community.
