Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The North Jakarta Immigration Office has arrested seven Chinese nationals wanted by the Chinese police, antaranews.com reported.
According to Sandi Andaryadi, the Head of the Immigration Division at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in Jakarta, the seven Chinese nationals were arrested for various offences in their home country.
One of the suspects, identified as 52-year-old XY, who involved in a human smuggling case, was arrested while playing futsal in Penjaringan area.
"These people are wanted by the Chinese government or authorities," Sandi told a press conference on Monday (20/11/2023).
The seven Chinese national face deportation. Two of them have already been deported, while the remaining five will be deported in stages.
The legal basis for the deportation of the Chinese individuals is Article 75 (1) and (3) of Law No. 6/2011 that allow administrative immigration measures, including deportation, to be taken against foreigners who seek to escape threats or punishment in their home countries.
The arrest of the seven Chinese fugitives was the result of ongoing cooperation between the Directorate General of Immigration, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights and the Chinese police.
