Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Central Jakarta Immigration Office has deported two British men for participating in a demonstration of online motorcycle drivers in Jakarta on August 29.
"Demonstration areas are off-limits to foreigners," Director General of Immigration Silmy Karim said in an official statement on Thursday (5/9/2024), as quoted by antaranews.com..
The two British men, identified as BJL and BTS, were seen giving speeches at a protest near theHorse Statue in Central Jakarta. Upon investigation, it was found that they entered Indonesia on tourist visas, making their involvement in the protest a clear violation of immigration laws.
"They are guests here, but instead, they took part in a protest, which is a violation of immigration regulations," Silmy added.
The deportation was carried out on Wednesday through Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. Both men covered the deportation costs themselves and have been blacklisted from re-entering Indonesia.
Director General Silmy urged all foreigners in Indonesia to respect local laws and customs to maintain a peaceful environment.
