Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, announced on Thursday (5/9/2024) that Indonesia is set to export up to 2-3 gigawatts of renewable energy (RE) to Singapore.

Speaking at the Indonesia International Sustainability Forum (ISF) 2024 in Jakarta, he confirmed that negotiations with Singapore have been concluded, and a cooperation agreement has been signed, as reported by antaranews.com.

"The initial figure is 2 gigawatts, but it could increase," Minister Luhut said, emphasizing that the exports would not compromise Indonesia's domestic energy needs.

The deal, which could be worth billions of dollars, aims to balance domestic electrification demands with export opportunities. Minister Luhut highlighted Indonesia's significant renewable energy potential, which could lead to expanding exports up to 3 gigawatts.

Deputy Minister Rachmat Kaimuddin explained that the total renewable energy exports to Singapore will include 2 gigawatts of power, plus an additional 1.4 gigawatts of alternating current (AC) electricity.

The agreement is part of Indonesia's broader plan to achieve 480 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2060.
