Inp.polri.go.id - The Ministry of Transportation launched the service of Transmusi Microbus as an effort to improve the public transportation service in Palembang City, South Sumatra.

The microbus will accommodate the public from Alang-Alang Lebar Terminal to Integrasi Bawah Ampera Bus Station. The transportation agency also hopes to reduce traffic jams in the city.

"The presence of Transmusi microbus will answer the traffic jams and traffic accidents issue, also pollution in Palembang," says the Secretary of Land Transportation Directorate General, Tatan Rustandi on Thursday (10/17/2024).

In his statement, he explains that the use of microbus in that corridor has taken the consideration of the street width and the vehicle maneuver needs.

"We also encourage the modernization of public transportation to make it more comfortable and safe to use," he said.

This is in accordance with Article 158 of Law Number 22/2009 concerning Traffic and Road Transportation. He emphasized that his party will continue to collaborate with local governments to invite the public to switch to using public transportation.

The Alang-Alang Lebar Terminal-Halte Integrasi Bawah Ampera corridor will be served by 13 microbus fleets. This service will start operating fully from 05.00 to 21.00 starting November 1st, 2024.
