inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman said he is optimistic that the target of food self-sufficiency within four years can be achieved under the administration of President-elect Prabowo Subianto.

“If the target is only within four years, we are sure we can do it. Why? Because in the past, for three years, we were able to produce our own food,” said Minister Andi.

In his statement, he said that the rice commodity would be the main focus in making food self-sufficiency a success. He said that after rice was successful, the next focus of self-sufficiency would be corn.

According to him, increasing rice and corn production must be done one by one so that the target of food self-sufficiency can be achieved.

Food self-sufficiency is one of the missions in the Asta Cita program of President and Vice President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

Several work programs that will be carried out include continuing and improving the food estate program in a sustainable manner, especially for rice, corn, cassava, soybeans, and sugar cane commodities.

It is targeted that at least four million hectares of additional food crop harvest area will be achieved by 2029.
