Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  Indonesia's boccia team has secured an additional silver medal through Muhammad Bintang Satria Herlangga, bringing the country's total to two silver and two bronze medals at the Paris 2024 Paralympics.

The achievement places Indonesia 47th out of 65 countries in the medal standings, according to antaranews.com. Boccia is a precision sport similar to bocce or Italian bowling, played primarily by athletes with severe physical disabilities.

Herlangga lost 1-6 to top-ranked Worawut Saengampa of Thailand in the BC2 men's individual final on Sunday (1/9/2024). Despite the loss, Bintang showcased a strong performance throughout the tournament, defeating Malaysia's Chee Hoong Lee 11-2, China's Zhijian Lan 9-1, and Japan's Hidetaka Sugimura in the group stages.

He continued his impressive run with a 7-1 victory over Belgium's Francis Rombouts in the playoffs and a 6-1 win against Slovakia's Robert Mezik in the semifinals.

In addition to Herlangga's silver, Saptoyogo Purnomo won a silver in para athletics, while Gischa Zayana and Muhamad Afrizal Fasya each earned a bronze in boccia. The team hopes to add more medals with upcoming BC1 and BC2 team events starting 3 September 2024.
