President Jokowi affirmed Indonesia's support for the United Arab Emirates' initiatives aimed at fostering international collaboration focused on sustainable agriculture, resilient supply chains, and climate action. Expressing optimism that these efforts would yield tangible results in shaping a more prosperous world, he outlined various initiatives undertaken by Indonesia to curtail carbon emissions. This includes commitments to enhance forest and other land use management and accelerate the transition to renewable energy sources. Highlighting Indonesia's vast and fertile land, President Jokowi underscored key supporting factors such as 30 percent of the population falling within the productive age group, a majority of Indonesians relying on agriculture for their livelihoods, a robust ecosystem, and extensive infrastructure connectivity. In his official statement released on Monday (4/12/2023) he said, "These potentials can be developed for the welfare of small-scale farming and large-scale food estates, supported by high-level funding and technology transfers, with the expectation of meeting global needs." Representatives from 134 countries convened at COP28 have witnessed the signing of the Emirates Declaration on Sustainable Agriculture, Resilient Food Systems, and Climate Action. The declaration's mission was to enhance food system resilience, reduce global emissions, and address global hunger, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). (ar/inp/pr/nm)
